Gitimtim is a comprehensive linguistic tool designed to assist users in exploring rhyme matches and proverbial expressions within the Amharic language. Its primary function is to facilitate the discovery of rhyming words and proverbs, supported by an extensive database of over 50,000 words and 5,000 proverbs categorized into twenty thematic groups.

The application features eleven subject matter categories—such as spirituality, knowledge, and family—as well as nine emotional scale categories including love, anger, happiness, and shame. This categorization enables nuanced searches that align with specific themes or emotional tones, enhancing the contextual relevance of the results.

Utilizing advanced sound pattern recognition algorithms, Gitimtim surpasses traditional manual searching by providing accurate rhyme matches based on phonetic similarity. Users can search using single letters or words through various tools designed for precision and control.

The "All Words" function allows users to input a character or word to retrieve all related entries within the database. For example, a single letter search lists words ending with that letter, whereas entering a full word generates a list sorted by sound pattern and rhyme quality. The “2-letter” to “5-letter” options refine this process further by matching rhymes within specific word lengths, supporting more targeted verse construction.

The "Proverbs" feature enables searches for proverbs ending with specific letters or containing particular words. When combined with category filtering—either thematic or emotional—users can identify proverbs that suit precise poetic or communicative intents.

The "Proverb Categories" function provides an intuitive interface for filtering proverbs according to subject matter (e.g., spirituality, poverty) or emotional tone (e.g., love-hate, joy-sadness). Selecting multiple categories allows for refined searches that hone in on nuanced themes and sentiments.

The "Keyword Search" option extends the functionality by listing all proverbs containing a specified word, irrespective of ending letters. This broadens the search scope and accommodates more flexible poetic and literary applications.

The interface's buttons are labeled in Amharic; therefore, consulting the user manual within the app is recommended for navigation assistance.
